Crowlas Cemetery Improvement Project
This Project is currently on hold - the parish council is not recruiting volunteers at this time, but may re-start this project again in the future.
Renovation of Crowlas Cemetery Chapel Building, and plans for a cemetery based research project into local history and family history.
The parish council wants the views of the local community on plans to renovate the chapel building in Crowlas Cemetery, and is opening up an opportunity to volunteer in an exciting new family history and local history research project.
Valued in the community, the cemetery at Crowlas, set amongst fields and with sweeping countryside views, is set in well maintained grounds. However the chapel building has not been maintained for some time. (see pictures below) Although not currently open for public use, the parish council plans to improve the condition of the building to keep it in good repair. This will involve use of parish resources, and so we want to know your views – is it important to local residents?
Also, if you are interested in helping to discover more about the local history and family history associated with the cemetery, we are looking at ways to help volunteers carry out research to feed into the cemetery improvement project. We will be linking with Kresen Kernow, the records library in Redruth. Information gathered will be added to the parish council’s burial records and to an online mapping resource which will help families and historians to carry out their own research.
