Could you be a Parish Councillor?
There are vacancies for Parish Councillors on the Parish Council ... eligible applicants are encouraged to apply!
There are currently vacancies in each ward of the parish (Lelant, Crowlas and Long Rock). (Applicants need to meet the criteria and can apply for a seat in any ward.)
The Council will fill these vacancies by co-option, which is a process where the council considers applications from interested people and can then select someone to fill each seat.
What do parish councillors do?
Parish councillors invest time in local projects and issues to the benefit of residents and the neighbourhood. Councillors listen to local needs, make decisions on local services and help progress local projects for the community.
National surveys have found that parish councillors spend about three hours per week on council work, including attending council meetings.
CALC, the Cornwall Association of Local Councils has produced these helpful guidance leaflets:
A Councillor, Who, Me?
